In February 2026, the County of Wellington, Stepping Stone, and government partners celebrated the grand opening of the expanded 23 Gordon Street facility in downtown Guelph. The expansion adds 24 emergency shelter beds and 12 transitional housing units, increasing support for individuals experiencing homelessness across Guelph and Wellington County.

The project was developed through a collaborative effort between Stepping Stone, the County of Wellington, and funding partners, with the goal of creating more safe, stable housing options and strengthening the community’s response to homelessness. The new transitional housing program will provide residents with individualized, housing-focused supports to help them achieve their goals and move toward permanent housing. The expanded facility represents an important step in creating a continuum of care that bridges the gap between emergency shelter and long-term housing stability.
